Je bent een echte Chaos Crafter, want je maakt verschillende creatieve producten. Waar komen je ideeën vandaan?
Ik word altijd heel positief van de natuur en bloemen. Ik zocht naar ideeën om die positiviteit te versterken, maar ook producten om daadwerkelijk in huis te kunnen gebruiken. Ik ga dan zoeken op Pinterest naar trends en zo kwam ik op plateaus, spiegels en borduurwerken. Als ik dan geïnspireerd raak, dan wil ik het gewoon gaan proberen! In mijn achterhoofd houd ik dan wel dat ik het als product wil gaan aanbieden.
Ik verdwaal zelf altijd uren op Pinterest en zie door de bomen het bos niet altijd meer. Wat is jouw tip voor andere Chaos Crafters voor het starten van een totaal nieuw project of een eigen creatieve onderneming? Hoe houd je die focus vast?
Zorg dat je zelf echt al over ondernemerschap beschikt. Kies iets waar je goed in bent en vooral blij van wordt. Begin vanuit jezelf. Ik haal er zelf ook echt energie uit als ik producten ontwerp en maak. Deze positieve instelling is belangrijk.
Naast het beschilderen van plateaus maak je ook borduurwerkjes en beschilder je spiegels. Hoe ben je begonnen met deze crafts?
Ik ben ontzettend impulsief in het beginnen van een nieuwe craft. Mijn oma is ook zo creatief en impulsief. Ze bood ooit haar borduurmachine aan toen ik aangaf dat ik wilde gaan borduren, maar ik wilde het graag met de hand gaan doen! Ik zoek dan nieuwe technieken op YouTube en dit is een beetje uit de hand gelopen… Ik heb zo veel ideeën! Ik gebruik graag vrolijke, natuurlijke en zachte tinten en mijn voorraad aan verschillende soorten materiaal groeit ook langzaam door de projecten die ik steeds wil proberen, haha.
Wat vind je uitdagend aan al deze Chaos Crafts?
Ik leer elke keer weer wat bij nadat ik iets heb geprobeerd. Ik heb wel eens opdrachten op aanvraag voor borduurwerken. In het begin tekende ik met pen op de stof en dan kwam ik er later achter dat ik dit niet meer kon aanpassen of verwijderen. Daar heb ik weer van geleerd en nu kijk ik weer anders naar hoe ik een borduurwerkje begin. Ik ben niet altijd meteen tevreden, dus bij het beschilderen van een spiegel begin ik ook wel eens helemaal opnieuw.
Over de spiegels gesproken, wat inspireert jou nog meer naast de natuur bij het ontwerpen van de spiegels?
Ik ga naar het bos of het park en ga op elementen letten waar ik vrolijk van word. Zoals een paarse bloem. Dat vind ik dan zo mooi en dan neem ik die bloem helemaal in op. Hoe ruikt het, hoe voelt het, welk gevoel geeft het mij? Als ik er een warm gevoel van krijg en er vrolijk van word, dan wil ik die positiviteit meenemen bij het ontwerpen van een product. Bij dit gevoel maak ik voor mezelf een moodboard op Pinterest en denk ik na over hoe ik dit kan omzetten naar een object wat ik thuis nog zou kunnen gebruiken, zoals de spiegels.
Na Coronatijd zijn mensen veel negatiever ingesteld. Ze vinden zichzelf vaak ook niet mooi meer. Door middel van mijn spiegels wil ik wat positiviteit terugbrengen. In plaats van dat mensen voorbij een spiegel lopen en zichzelf steeds moeten zeggen dat ze zich mooi vinden, wil ik via een creatieve uiting hetzelfde gevoel bereiken. Ik loop bijvoorbeeld langs mijn spiegel en dan ben ik trots en blij. Ik wil anderen zo ook het gevoel geven dat ze er mogen zijn.
Jezelf omringen met bijzondere objecten in het interieur helpt mij inderdaad ook om mezelf lekker in mijn vel te voelen, dus ik begrijp dat heel goed! Je gebruikt op dit moment acrylverf om de spiegels op te fleuren. Welke uitdaging zou je ook nog wel eens aan willen gaan in het spiegelontwerp?
Ik wil heel graag een keer met klei aan de slag op een spiegel. Dan krijg je een 3D-effect. Ik zou wel eens een maan of een ander ontwerp op de spiegel willen boetseren. Dat lijkt me heel gaaf.
Heel leuk om wat meer te leren over jouw bedrijfje. Hoe vind je het tot nu toe om je werk met anderen te delen via jouw instashop?
Ik krijg opdrachten op aanvraag en daar word ik heel blij van. Ik vind het dan ook heel leuk om dingen te posten en te werken met hetzelfde kleurenpalet op mijn Instagram feed. Ook hier leer ik steeds weer wat werkt en hoe ik mezelf ook moet beschermen tegen spam en oplichters. Ik denk wel aan een shopuitbreiding op een website of Etsy.
Wat wil je nog bereiken met J♥CreAtive?
De ondernemer in mij wil meer. Op dit moment ga ik een reclamebureau voor jonge ondernemers starten, om ze te helpen bij hun marketing. Daarbij maak ik bijvoorbeeld 3D-inrichtingen en inspiratie voor standinrichting en help ik ze met hun branding. Ik ga me focussen op starters en ik vind duurzame ondernemers ook echt de toekomst. Mijn handgemaakte producten blijven er gewoon lekker naast bestaan!

Kies de verf
Ik gebruik zelf graag acrylverf voor mijn spiegels. Je zou het ook met waterverf kunnen doen, maar ik houd van acrylverf. Dit dekt beter. Ik houd van natuurlijke, rustige kleuren.
Kies de spiegel
Mijn spiegels kies ik uit op uitstraling. Ik vind de gouden rand goed passen bij mijn stijl. Je zou natuurlijk ook spiegels kunnen halen bij de kringloop! Ik gebruik deze spiegels.
to sketch or not to sketch?
Eigenlijk maak ik nooit een schets op de spiegel. Ik begin direct met verf en ik zie wel wat eruit komt! Zolang het ontwerp mij maar aanspreekt.
Foutje? Geen probleem!
Mocht het nou niet lukken, dan begin ik wel eens helemaal opnieuw. Ik pak een plantenspuit en ik haal met water en een doekje de hele schildering er af. Je kunt de spiegel ook in een badje doen, zolang je stromend water blijft gebruiken. Ik neem dan de zachte kant van een sponsje om de verf eraf te wrijven. Gebruik nooit de schuurzijde, want daarvan krijg je krassen. Het maakt niet uit of de acrylverf al helemaal opgedroogd is.
Workshop spiegel beschilderen
Anniek was zo tof om mij te begeleiden bij het beschilderen van een spiegel tijdens onze thee-date! Zelf had ik toch wel een schetsje gemaakt van tevoren, haha, want direct op de spiegel schilderen is toch wel spannend. Geheel geïnspireerd door Annieks verhaal over positiviteit betrekken in je crafts, heb ik ervoor gekozen om het logo van Studio Koolmees te schilderen i.c.m. vrolijke bloemen. Deze spiegel komt in mijn studio te hangen en zal mij er steeds weer aan herinneren dat ik trots mag zijn op mijn werk en mezelf! Wat vind je van het resultaat?
